Taylor Swift Dad Won’t Face Charges for Alleged Photographer Assault

Taylor Swift‘s father, Scott Swift, will not face charges after he was accused of assaulting a cameraman in Australia.

Authorities confirmed in a statement to Billboard on Tuesday (March 26) that New South Wales police have decided not to take any further action in regards to Scott, who was accused last month of assaulting a photographer while accompanying his daughter on a visit to the Neutral Bay Wharf in Sydney.

“Officers attached to North Shore Police Area Command have conducted an investigation following a report of an assault at Neutral Bay Wharf about 2.30am on Tuesday 27 February 2024,” an NSW Police Force spokesperson said in a statement. “There will be no further police action.”

Billboard has reached out to Swift’s rep for comment.

The alleged incident occurred shortly after the pop star’s final show at Accor Stadium, where she played four nights as part of her global Eras Tour. At the time, police confirmed in a statement to People that they were investigating a report that “a 71-year-old man allegedly assaulted a 51-year-old man at Neutral Bay Wharf” around 2:30 a.m. local time, noting that the younger man “did not require medical treatment.”

Shortly afterward, one of the “Anti-Hero” singer’s reps told Billboard: “Two individuals were aggressively pushing their way towards Taylor, grabbing at her security personnel, and threatening to throw a female staff member into the water.”

Since performing in Sydney, Swift has taken her Eras trek to Singapore, and she’ll next hold shows in Europe this summer. She’s now in the midst of a two-month break from performances as she gears up to release her new album The Tortured Poets Department on April 19.

Scott has long been a fixture of the 14-time Grammy winner’s touring enterprise, with fans reporting for years that the stockbroker enjoys passing out guitar picks to audience members at shows. At recent concerts, he’s been spotted hanging out with Swift’s boyfriend, Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce.
